National HIV Testing Week

It’s National HIV Testing Week on Saturday 16th November 2019 – Sunday 24th November 2019 and we need you to get involved!

HIV affects roughly 37M people worldwide, with 21% of people with HIV unaware of their status. National HIV Testing Week is an annual event which seeks to promote regular testing among key populations. It aims to reduce the number of undiagnosed people and those diagnosed late. It’s held every November ahead of World AIDS Day on 1st December.

HIV is a virus that targets, attacks and alters the cells within your immune system and weakens your ability to fight everyday infections and illnesses. While related, HIV & AIDS are not the same thing. Not everyone who has HIV will get AIDS, however, without treatment, the infection will likely progress to AIDS – this can take between 10-15 years.
