Workplace absence is not new, but it is still a major problem in companies all around the world especially in European countries.

But with today’s policies and technology, it is slowly becoming hard to pull off a ‘sickie’ knowing that sophisticated HR tools and methods are being developed daily to minimize employee absence.

Being absent in your workplace may be small and insignificant, but when all these data is gathered, one re-evaluates their mindset on whether or not they’ll continue indulging in taking unauthorized absences.

To end this rather minor issue, it is the employee’s discretion whether they will work or be on AWOL. There are also other factors to be considered (unpleasant employers, annoying coworkers, etc) but that doesn’t warrant an absence unless in extreme and rare cases.
