Scholar’s piece of writing which shows author’s argument on a topic is called an essay. Its definition is a bit vague and overlaps with short stories and articles. A mixture of elements is added to it including arguments, political criticism or manifestos, literary and other observations based on daily life. Modern essays are usually written in prose.
